Training
United States Marine Corps, CA, Military Training , US GOV, 1997, I was assigned to Alpha co. 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, a unit formed around the innovative LAR-25 wheeled combat vehicle weapons system. I trained in a variety of skills including MOUT (Military Operations on Urban Terrain), logistics, communications and ground reconnaissance as an infantry scout, Emergency Medical Tech, and various duties that help shape a line company of a reconnaissance unit. When my unit was attached to the 1st Marine Division for combat service in 2003, I deployed to Iraq and took part in the early portions of Operation Iraqi Freedom. My unit was one of the first to cross the line of departure from Kuwait and led the division in the lightning drive toward Baghdad. My unit was involved in human extractions as well as providing security escorts for high-risk informants who provided valuable intelligence to allied forces. Also during this period they took part in humanitarian missions and providing security for national elections. My unit also took part in training the initial wave of Iraqi police for that local area of SE of Baghdad and disposing of unexploded ordinance. Following this combat tour, I completed my obligated active service and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. I initially took employment in the private security field where my military training / combat experience made me a valuable asset for the safety and performance of the clients.
